On Sunday we spent the day with Pastor Richard Sexton and the members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church just outside of Cadiz, KY.  We had a blessed day.  In the evening we presented the ministry, sang, and preached with liberty.  Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church was organized in 1810.  Praise the Lord for his grace and love for his churches.

My home church, Chegoggin Baptist Church celebrates their 160th anniversary this year (2013), being founded in 1853--more grace.

We left home in Nova Scotia on February 27th and arrived in Mayfield, KY on March 2nd.  The Lord graciously ushered us along without incident.  We praise the Lord for protecting us on the road.  Our car is about to turn 100,000 miles.  When we began deputation just over two years ago it had less than 10,000 miles on the odometer.  That is 100,000 miles of grace and mercy.

On Sunday we spent the day with Grace Baptist Church (Pastor Kenneth Ballinger) in Mayfield, KY.  We had a fine day with the church.  In the evening we presented the church planting ministry, Sandy, Adam, and Natalie sang, and I preached from Acts 19:1-6 on Separation and the Great Commission.

Thank the Lord, once again.

We approached the U.S. boarder prayerfully on February 27th.  The last time I crossed (late January) the boarder agent was not happy with the amount of time we had spent in the US the last two years.  Well, the Lord prepared our way and with minimal time at the boarder we were told by the agent to have a good trip.  Thank you all for praying regarding this matter.

We continue to praise the Lord for His wonderful work in Shelburne, NS.  We glory in Christ Jesus as He fashions lively stones for this new building and habitation of God.

Welcome to another partner, and a little muse.

We would like to welcome Bismarck Bible Baptist Church and Pastor Jeff Olson of Bismarck, North Dakota on board as supporters of the church planting ministry of Chegoggin Baptist Church of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and ourselves to Nova Scotia, Eastern Canada, and beyond.  We are humbled by the grace of God in supplying these partners in the work of God.

Wherever our Lord takes us may we willingly follow.  We grew up on the windswept Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia with the crashing surf and smell of the salty air.  The oceans, in the Holy Scriptures, are frequently used metaphorically for the people of the world, the lost souls for whom the precious Son of God came to seek and to save.  These pictures below capture a beauty.  Nevertheless, not much more than five minutes in those frigid waters would encompass your death.  If the cold did not get you the surf, rocks, or undertow would.  To the carnal sight of men mankind appears beautiful.  Man was created in the beauty of righteousness, upright--Ecclesiastes 7:29, but due to the corruption of sin man is now far removed from that original image.  Men now exist dead in tresspasses and sins.  The only true hope is to have the sins that are so offensive to God removed from us in a way acceptable to God.

God uses the sea to metaphorically picture sinful man in such terms as these terms.

The ungodly are described; "But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked." (Isaiah 57:20-21)

But there is hope to the broken hearted sinner.  "[God] Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them." (Psalm 89:9)  God in the flesh, Christ Jesus, demonstrated His rule over natural creation--"And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm." (Luke 8:24)  There is no peace to the wicked.  They have no peace with God and therefore cannot have the peace of God.  But, the repentant sinner can fall upon the Lord Jesus Christ in faith to be saved from his condemnation and from sin.  It is the pure, sinless, blood of Jesus Christ that has made peace for us with the One True God Whom we have offended--"And, having made peace through the blood of his [Jesus'] cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself..." (Colossians 1:20)  And in another place, "In whom [Jesus Christ] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:7)

New Supporters

We are praising the Lord once again as in the last week we have had two churches take us on for support.  We welcome Manadanock Bible Baptist Church in Rindge, NH (Pastor Tom Pearagallo) and Bible Baptist Church of Nashua, NH (Pastor Steve Bates).  This raises our support currently being received to 65%.

January 2013

The cold winter has descended upon us in Nova Scotia.  Thankfully, the weather is not stopping the schedule work for the coming year and the work in our ongoing church plant in Shelburne.  I have been teaching each Thursday night in Shelburne and attending most of their Sunday afternoon meetings.  In addition to this Adam has begun Bible Institute.  We hold class weekly.  The Lord has also just hooked me up with a man to disciple, Carl.  When I am in NS Carl and I will get together; when I am on the road the Internet will be our means of meeting weekly.

Home Sweet Home.

We are blessed.

We are enjoying home and being with our church immensely. 

The other day we were knocking doors in Shelburne county and came across this sign hanging by the door, "All our visitors bring happiness; some by coming, others by going."  Well, know one was home at this house, so we did not get an opportunity to test and see how these people would receive the gospel, but it reminded me that how people receive the Word of God so essential to their eternal well being.  Are they joyed by it coming into their lives, or by its going from their lives?

Our lobster fishermen are having a great year as far as catch size, but of course, the large catches keep prices low. The Lord protects and provides.

We have no snow yet, and really some fine weather for the time of year.  Temperatures are ranging around 25 to 45 degrees F.

We have seen some gusty days-30 to 40mph winds.  That is normal in the North Atlantic, but we have also see some beautiful days.
