Hebrews 6:2
Some judgments listed in Scripture…
1. The Global Flood: Genesis 6:5-13 (total account chapters 6-8). Also see Mathew 24:38-39 and 2Peter 2:4-6.
2. The Confusion of Languages: Genesis 11:1-9.
3. The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah: Genesis 19; 2Peter 2:6.
4. The Judgment of the Nations: Matthew 25:31-46; Isaiah 40:15-17, with Numbers 23:9, and Genesis 12:3.
5. The Judgment Seat of Christ: 1Corinthians 3:10-15; 2Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:10.
6. The Great White Throne Judgment: Revelation 20:7-15.
Note the following…
All six are time-space historical events.
The first three took place on earth, and are passed.
The fourth takes place on earth, yet future.
The last two take place in heaven.
The fifth is a judgment of the saved to reward.
The sixth is the final judgment of all lost to everlasting fire in the Lake of Fire.
The term “eternal judgment” is a truth/reality—a thing—and not necessarily an event. As I say that, please note that of the judgment events listed above all but two and five send men to eternal judgment. Eternal judgment is the doctrine/truth behind the judgment acts of God.
Truths…
(a) GOD is the Creator of all things: Genesis 1:1; Psalm 148:5; Isaiah 40:26, 28; Colossians 1:13-17.
(b) GOD is Supreme: Deuteronomy 4:35; Isaiah 45:5, 22.
(c) GOD is the Lawgiver: Isaiah 33:2; James 4:12.
(d) GOD is Righteous: 1John 1:5; Psalm 11:7; Genesis 18:25.
(e) GOD is the Judge of all the earth: Genesis 18:25; John 5:22-29.
(f) The Legal statement of righteousness is the TEN COMMANDMENTS: Exodus 20:1-17; Romans 3:10, 19-20, 23.
(g) A law is given to protect something. This is self-evident. “Thou shalt not steel,” protects private property. “Thou shalt not kill,” protects human life.
(h) A law’s penality justly must be equal to that which is violated. See Exodus 21:24-25: Irresponsibility causing loss, Exodus 21:33-34; Murder, intentional or accidental, Exodus 21:12-14; etc.
QUESTION: What does “Thou shalt have no other gods before me,” protect?
This law protects the eternal almighty God of heaven and earth. His value is infinite.
QUESTION: When “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” is broken what penalty can equal a violation of God’s very person?
Only an eternal penalty!
The first violation of God’s person was by Lucifer (the Devil; a.k.a Satan): Isaiah 14:12-15 and Ezekiel 28:2, 13, 16-17.
The preparation of Hell was for the Devil and his angels: Matthew 25:41.
The second violation of God’s person was by mankind, Adam: Genesis 2:16-17 and 3:1-8.
Spiritual death was the result of this second violation: Ephesians 2:1-3; John 3:18; Romans 3:23; 5:12.
Un-redeemed men go to Hell, albeit against the perfect will of God for their lives: Luke 16:23 and 2Peter 3:9.
The place called Hell is temporary, but will be thrown into the eternal Lake of Fire, Revelation 20:14-15. The penalty for man’s sin against God is eternal judgment fire. This is Just and Right!
There is one judgment that I have purposely left till last.
THE JUDGMENT OF THE CROSS OF CALVARY.
You may (should) read of this supremely important judgment in Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; and, John 19.
Who is the Judge? Acts 2:23 tells us that God Himself is the Judge; see also Matthew 27:46 and Isaiah 53:10-11.
Who is the Judged? Matthew 27:29-38 tells us that Jesus Christ was judged on the cross in this time-space real historical event. Jesus Christ was without sin, Hebrews 4:15; Matthew 27:24. Jesus Christ was judged not for Himself, but for men’s sin as a legal substitute, 2Corinthians 5:21.
Why a Substitute? The LOVE of GOD is the primary reason, John 3:16. A legal redemption (purchase price) was required for men’s souls, Hebrews 9:12 and 1Peter 1:18-20. GOD, being just, required satisfaction of all sin in order to extend pardon and forgiveness to the truly guilty, Jeremiah 33:8 and Colossians 1:14.
How an Acceptable Substitute? John 1:1-14 tells us that Jesus of Nazareth is GOD in human flesh. See also 1Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 1:23.
THEREFORE, when Jesus Christ, the eternal GOD in human flesh, died on Calvary’s cross He was able to bear the eternal judgment of all men’s sin in a moment of time and fully satisfy GOD’s just demand for eternal judgment.
The reality is that all sin is a violation of GOD and an offence to GOD.
The reality is that regardless of all men’s denials GOD is there, and is our Judge.
The reality is that GOD has every right to condemn us, for we are guilty, and GOD is just and good in sending sinners to eternal Hell fire.
The application of the eternal redemption works by Christ Jesus alone is personal to each man and woman. Although Jesus Christ died for all, he died for you personally, as your sins are personal against GOD.
GOD’s Way of Salvation is personal by GOD’s GRACE—Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 11:6; Titus 3:5-7.
GOD’s Way of Salvation is personal through REPENTANCE toward GOD—Psalm 51:3-4; Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30-31.
GOD’s Way of Salvation is personal through FAITH in the LORD JESUS CHRIST—Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:8-13, 17.
GOD’s Way of Salvation immediately establishes a personal relationship between GOD and the redeemed sinner—John 14:7, 17; 1John 2:3; 5:20.
THE REALITY IS THAT SINCE YOU HAVE READ THESE TRUTHS YOU WILL HAVE TO SPIT IN THE FACE OF A LOVING GOD WHO PERSONALLY DIED FOR YOU TO GO TO HELL!
