Hebrews 6:1
Some Scriptural facts.
Hebrews 11:1: faith = the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Faith is a valid and sure ground by which to live your life.
Hebrews 11:2: through faith comes understanding of things we cannot know empirically (physical senses).
Hebrews 11:4-5: by faith we can act acceptably and pleasing to God.
Hebrews 11:6: faith is more than believing that God exists; faith is believing in the truth and surety of God’s Word—the Bible.
The veracity of God’s Word is the basis of faith—Mark 2:9-11. That is why God revealed Himself in time-space history. Space-time history is verifiable by you and me.
Faith is obedience to God’s Word—Romans 10:16.
Faith is gendered by the Word of God—Romans 10:17.
Faith is that by which the child of God is to walk, and not by sight (2Corinthains 5:7). This means that trust in the Word of God is greater than trust in self’s wisdom and sight (Proverbs 3:5). This includes a man denying self and following Christ (Romans 12:1; Luke 9:23).
If the foundation of faith toward God is laid will in the life of a lost sinner, and that person gets saved, then the foundation of the Christian life is already laid. The new convert will have to grow in faith but the foundation of a broken heart and trusting God are there.
Note, the quick prayer-ism method of ‘evangelism’ does not gender faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ or repentance toward God. It is no better than the Roman Catholic mass—you do it and God will accept you. Biblical faith is believing God will do what He said He would.
